Basil Ziv, B.Com, RSHom (NA), CCH}
A.N.D. Executive Director

Basil Ziv was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and graduated from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He is trained in the art of mediation specializing in civil litigation. Basil has been a business and financial consultant and has had extensive experience in the setting up and running of small businesses.

Basil has been A.N.D.'s Executive Director since 2002 and has been responsible for running the organization since that time. He became Chief Clinician in 2004 when A.N.D.'s contract clinician was unable to continue his work due to illness. Basil was fortunate to have been trained through the Centre for Neurological Rehabilitation (CNR) by Dr. John Unruh who was one of the original founders of A.N.D. He spent a year and a half working with Dr. Unruh at clinics in Texas, Florida, Barcelona and Toronto. The rigorous training involved learning about the theoretical and practical aspects of Developmental Neurology and the process of training was completed by final examination and thesis. During Basil's apprenticeship he was required to learn the techniques for functional neurological evaluation and programming of a wide range of neurological disabilities and he gained considerable experience by working with more than 2,000 patients during this period of time. In addition, Basil also studied diet and nutrition pertaining to functional neurological disabilities and techniques for dealing with life-style issues such as sleep and behaviour.

In addition to Basil's training in Developmental Neurology, he is also a Board Certified Homeopath. Basil began his homeopathic studies in 1990 when he joined the Toronto Homeopathic Study Group. He began his private practice in 1992 and qualified as a registered member of the North American Society of Homeopaths (NASH) in 1995 and the Council for Homeopathic Certification (CCH) in 2001. Basil has been a director of NASH since 2005 occupying the position of Bi-national liaison and has been instrumental in negotiating with the government of Ontario on behalf of the Ontario homeopathic community regarding the Regulation of homeopathy under the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA, 1991). He is a teacher, tutor and mentor to homeopaths and students of homeopathy throughout North America. Basil has taught at the Homeopathic Academy of Southern California in San Diego, The Toronto School of Homeopathic Medicine, The British Institute of Homeopathy in Ottawa and an Advanced Clinicians Program at his own Centre of Homeopathic Medicine in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Basil knows that he can inspire and help people in their journey to recovery. His and A.N.D’s mission is to create the opportunity for the neurologically disabled to receive therapy from qualified Canadian specialists with the goal of rehabilitating patients, as quickly and gently as possible and in the most comprehensive way, so as to enable them to achieve their highest potential.
